JRMC Auxiliary Volunteers Sponsor Annual Star of Love Fundraiser

Hopewell, Virginia, December 3, 2009 -- The John Randolph Medical Center Auxiliary Volunteers’ Star of Love annual fund-raising project began November 16 and will continue through December 17, 2009.  Community members are invited to honor loved ones and remember those who are deceased while providing money for scholarships for students pursuing health careers.

Donations will be accepted in honor or in memory of a loved one for $2.00 in the main lobby and gift shop at John Randolph Medical Center from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.   The names of loved ones will be written in a Book of Honor or Book of Memory to be located in the John Randolph Gift Shop after Christmas. In addition, a large star is mounted on the roof of the hospital’s main entrance to symbolize love and honor.

Proceeds from the Star of Love will benefit the John Randolph Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.  Scholarships are awarded to individuals who are enrolled in educational programs pursuing a health career, including nursing, medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and radiology.  Scholarships are awarded for one full academic year and may be re-awarded pending grades and available funding. An application and an interview are also requirements for scholarship candidates.
